Testosterone Therapy Lawsuit: Two Issues in Recent Years

A testosterone therapy lawsuit is one that involves a person who has had a deficiency of this hormone in their body. This deficiency can cause many things in a person’s life. For example, it can cause a decrease in libido and sex drive. It can also cause a decrease in bone density, muscle mass, and lean muscle mass.

Testosterone therapy is sometimes used to treat hypogonadism or low testosterone levels in males. It has, however, been linked to other serious side effects such as heart attack, stroke, and even prostate cancer. These side effects occur when the testosterone product makers recommend the use of dangerous drugs. Many of these drugs have also been linked to some serious side effects, some of which include liver damage, high blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes, and even cancer.
In the past, there was a lot of resistance to testosterone therapy drugs, but in recent years, medical professionals have begun to accept them.
This is because they have been able to find many side effects in patients who do take them. In fact, in some cases, these medications could actually lead to erectile dysfunction in men! Now, with all of this new information, there is less resistance to these medications.
The manufacturers have also taken some hits because they have encouraged patients to take their medications blindly.
If a physician recommends them, doctors receive bonuses for dispensing them. Patients, of course, believe that taking these seriously is good for them. But, this could lead them to developing some very unhealthy habits, such as smoking, drinking, overindulging in sex, and so forth.
The lawsuit against Ortho-Cytokine and its generic variant, Accutane, claims that this medicine caused serious mental and physical problems, leading to various lawsuits.
Some of these suits have included severe pain, permanent scarring, permanent vision impairment, heart attack, and stroke. There have even been reports of some people committing suicide after becoming addicted to Accutane. While it is true that most of these lawsuits are exaggerated, it should be noted that the media often portrays positive stereotypes of those who become addicted to these medications.
Accutane was actually found to increase a person’s risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Also, it is quite common for those who suffer from depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders to develop depression after taking Accutane.
This lawsuit, and the one filed by another man claiming to be the victim of sexual abuse, are just two of the issues that are being addressed in the medical community in an effort to stamp out the use of testosterone gels for therapeutic use.
In the recent years, more people are seeking out these types of treatments to increase their levels of self-esteem, sexual drive, muscle mass, and muscle development. While there are no studies that indicate that these testosterone injections cause cancer or heart disease, there is still a strong body of evidence that suggests that they are not healthy.
For this reason, many doctors, patients, and legal entities are working to ban the use of these testosterone gels. Whether or not this will come about remains to be seen, but the lawsuit filed by the plaintiff may be an indication of the challenges that lay ahead.
